Life can throw many challenges your way, often all at once. Between fulfilling obligations, completing daily tasks, and nurturing relationships, you may be left wondering how to attend to your own needs with no idea where to start. You may wish to find balance amidst chaos.
Identifying as a marginalized individual can further complicate these realities. You may contend with the weight of questions about your identity, worries about acceptance, and concerns about systemic oppression on your shoulders. If these considerations resonate with you, then you are not alone.
I recognize the unique complexities people of colour and members of the LGBTQ2S+ community encounter when navigating the world. I believe we must view life obstacles through a culturally sensitive and intersectional lens. We can collaborate to find ways for you to grow and thrive in an authentic manner.
I have my Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology and English from the University of Texas at Austin and am currently working toward my Master’s Degree in Counselling Psychology from Yorkville University. I am practicing psychotherapy through my practicum with Roots in Wellness under the supervision of Jennifer Thomson.
My therapeutic approaches are mostly based in Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Person-Centered Therapy. I believe collaboration, honesty, trust, and empathy are central to a healthy and supportive therapeutic relationship.
In my spare time I enjoy sewing, knitting, trying new recipes, and spending time with friends and family.
