Are you feeling overwhelmed by the stress of daily life? Does it sometimes seem impossible to find balance, inner peace, and happiness? Are you experiencing conflict at home with family?

You are not alone!

It can be difficult to acknowledge when you are struggling, and even more difficult to reach out for help. This is a great place to start! After all, taking care of ourselves is often the best way to help others, and the most effective way to reach our personal and professional goals.

I am a graduate student in the final semester of the Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology (MACP) program at Yorkville University. I graduated from Wilfrid Laurier University with a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology and a minor in Psychology.

I worked at an International School in Romania for 8 years with students from 20 different countries, where there were children suffering socially and psychologically, trying to adjust to frequent international moves and living abroad. With the school’s Psychologist, I developed and implemented a counselling and support program, aimed at improving self-esteem, motivation, confidence, and interpersonal skills. I also completed my teaching qualifications (Qualified Teacher Status, QTS) through the University of Reading in the UK.

Living and working abroad with children in international settings for 13 years has provided me with valuable learning opportunities that I apply to my career in counselling with individuals, couples, families and adolescents.

As both a mother and step-mother to three children, ages 3 to 17, in a blended and multi-cultural family, I have an appreciation for the complexity of family dynamics and parent-child relationships. I have a passion for developmental psychology and a particular interest in attachment theory.

I have worked under the supervision of a Registered Psychologist in private clinical practice for the past 2 ½ years with individuals, couples, families, and adolescents. I have experience working with stress, anxiety, depression, OCD, trauma, and conflict resolution in couples and families. I enjoy working with clients of all ages, cultures, religions, gender identities, and sexual orientations. I am an LGBTQ2+ positive therapist.

My main therapeutic approaches include cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT) and emotion-focused therapy (EFT). I employ a biopsychosocial and humanistic approach to counselling, encompassing awareness, mindfulness, and acceptance training, and my techniques always cater to the needs of the client.

I work to build a trusting and respectful relationship with my clients and take a compassionate but straight-forward approach. I look forward to learning about you, and I am honoured that you have chosen to share your own journey with me.

While not in session or school, I have been involved in dance, martial arts, and equestrianism for 20 years and have been humbled by both the opportunity and the experiences gained from travelling to as many countries as my age in years. My dream has been to dance around the world, and I’m still working on it!
