Life requires balance. As the famous saying goes, ‘without the bad, we wouldn’t be able to appreciate the good’. But what do we do when the bad begins to outweigh the good? When we have exhausted our resources and have continuously failed to regain meaningful balance in our lives? This can be an intimidating and overwhelming place to be. Trust me, I’ve been there, and I’m proud of you for making it this far on your own. But the truth is, life’s challenges were never made to be endured alone; they were meant to be shared. And I am hoping that you will feel comfortable enough to share these challenges with me.
To me, counselling is about perspective. Taking on the perspective of your client, offering new insight through your own perspectives, and challenging clients to expand on their perspectives of the world around them. My style of counselling is eclectic in nature. Rather than simply relying on one approach to counselling, I often draw inspiration from a variety of theories and methods, with the intention of providing you with the best possible counselling experience. Opposed to the ‘one model fits all’ approach, I believe in the importance of tailoring the treatment plan to fit the uniqueness of each and every client.
During my time at Western University, I received degrees in both psychology and grief studies, and have been working towards my master’s degree in counselling since 2021. I specialize in working with individuals and couples experiencing depression, anxiety, grief, burn-out, relationship issues, and self esteem/body image issues. I integrate elements of solution-focused therapy (SFT), emotion-focused therapy (EFT), and variations of cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT) into my work. My goal is for counselling to be an educational experience for my clients. When out time together is over, I will have prepared you for long term independent coping by providing you with the necessary skills to act as your own therapist. If you are struggling with any of these problem areas and are looking to regain balance in life, I would love to hear from you.
