Do you feel stuck in your life? Are you weighed down by emotions you can’t shake or psychological roadblocks that are holding you back? If you answered yes to any of these questions, a mind-body therapy called Brainspotting may be what you’re looking for to get unstuck.

Brainspotting is a therapeutic approach for treating trauma that is built on the foundation that where we look affects how we feel. It was developed in 2003 by an EMDR therapist and relational analyst, Dr. David Grand. Brainspotting uses specific eye positions in a client’s visual field that are connected to brainspots, which are areas in the subcortical brain where unprocessed trauma is stored. Brainspotting finds these stuck points and allows clients to release and reprocess any emotions, memories, and physical sensations that they need to let go of.

You may have heard the saying that the body keeps the score, meaning that trauma can get trapped in our body and nervous system if it’s not adequately released. While talk therapy is beneficial for processing trauma, a mind-body therapy like Brainspotting allows for a deeper level of healing by connecting with parts of the brain we don’t typically have conscious access to and integrating the mind-body connection.

Brainspotting can be beneficial for clients experiencing a variety of blocks including trauma, low mood, anxiety, sex and relationship difficulties, low self-esteem, along with sports and work performance issues. Clients can expect to feel a sense of physical and emotional release from this form of deep healing that involves the help of an attuned therapist who will be there to support them through it.

If you want to get unstuck and let go of whatever is holding you down, one of our Associate Therapists, Sarah Stockall, would be honoured to guide you through the Brainspotting process. 1. Reading through these pieces kinda made me pause a bit. Everyone talks about eternal principles like they’re rock solid, but the way each article explains it feels different. Still, the core stays the same—faith, patience, and choosing what’s right even when your mind is tired. Pretty grounding stuff honestly.
