My approach to supervision focuses on the supervisee as an independent an autonomous therapist with all of the right tools and education. Like in therapy, I encourage supervisees to explore their strengths and weaknesses and trust themselves along the way. I see my role as a supervisor to help nurture your natural ability to empathize and problem solve with clients, develop your identity, and enhance skills relevant to your own practice.Â
My supervisory style encompasses:
-
- Fostering confidence in your abilities
- Promoting continued learning for supervisee and supervisor
- Empowering supervisees to trust themselves, their knowledge, and their judgement
- Sharing my own struggles and experience in therapy
- Following supervisee direction in terms of desired learning goals
- Regular core competency evaluations
- Allowing for open and honest discussion regarding thoughts and feelings that come up in the therapy room
